Bioactive Glass
We support innovative technologies such as bioactive glasses and advanced fillers, fostering the innovative and enterprising spirit that we value. Bioactive glasses are a group of surface-reactive glass-ceramic biomaterials, which are biocompatible. This means that they can be used as implant devices in both human and veterinary medicine to repair and replace diseased or damaged bones. The bioactive glasses that use our high purity quartz sand are degradable in body fluids and act as a scaffold to rebuild tissue.
Innovation
Quartz sand is widely used as a filler in industry, from simple applications such as cast statues to more complex applications such as engineered stone and epoxy moulding compounds (EMC). High bulk chemical purity is critical for technical and long term performance, while high surface purity is critical to minimise the number of available free ions in moulding compounds.
